Emergency management planning

Plan types

What we prepare

Each plan answers to a different regulator with a different renewal cycle. We handle all four so nothing lapses between them.

Item 1 of 4

Transport Canada · TDG

Emergency Response Assistance Plan

ERAP & ERAP Online Services submissions

Required when you offer for transport or import dangerous goods above the quantities listed in the TDG regulations. The plan has to demonstrate a real, resourced capability, not a document exercise.

What is included

  • Applicability assessment against your product and quantity profile
  • Plan authoring, tiered response structure, and equipment listing
  • Submission and correspondence through ERAP Online Services
  • Named response capability, our crews on your plan
  • Renewals, amendments, and required exercises

Site readiness

Emergency Response Plan

ERP for site preparedness and response activity

The plan your own people use. Written around your site layout, your muster points, your call-out list. Short enough to actually be read at 3 a.m.

What is included

  • Hazard and consequence assessment for the site
  • Roles, notification trees, and escalation thresholds
  • Field-usable response procedures by scenario
  • Tabletop and full-deployment exercises

Environment & Climate Change Canada

Environmental Emergency Plan

E2 Plans under the E2 Regulations

Triggered by holding a regulated substance at or above its threshold quantity. Both the notice of substances and the plan itself carry deadlines, and both need to stay current as inventory changes.

What is included

  • Substance inventory screened against E2 thresholds
  • Notice preparation and plan authoring
  • Worst-case and alternative scenario modelling inputs
  • Annual testing and five-year review cycle

British Columbia

Waste Contingency Plan

Required under B.C. waste regulations

Covers what happens when waste handling goes wrong: spills during transfer, storage failures, and off-spec loads, with the response and notification steps written out.

What is included

  • Waste stream characterization and storage review
  • Contingency procedures and notification requirements
  • Coordination with your existing site ERP

Not sure which applies?

Send us your substance list and site inventory. We'll tell you what's triggered and what isn't.

Escalation

When does it leave your hands?

Most incidents never leave the first tier. Knowing where the thresholds sit, and who has to be notified at each one, is the difference between a contained event and a reportable one.

RRIGL operates across all three tiers, and writes the plans that define your thresholds.

  1. Your crew

    Site response

Your ERP, isolate the source, protect people, start the record

  2. Our crew

    ERAP activation

RRIGL mobilizes, Transport Canada notified, CANUTEC

  3. Public agencies

    Public authorities

Unified command, ECCC or provincial regulator, public notification

Readiness programs

Three ways to work with us

Every engagement is scoped to your sites and substances, so pricing is quoted rather than listed.

One-time engagement

Plan Development

We write and submit the plan, then hand it over. Suited to a single site with a clear trigger.

  • Applicability assessment
  • Plan authoring
  • Regulator submission
  • Approval correspondence
Most common

Annual program

Readiness & Review

The plan stays current and tested, and our response capability is named on it. Nothing expires quietly.

  • Everything in Plan Development
  • Annual review & amendments
  • Tabletop exercise each year
  • Renewal tracking & reminders
  • RRIGL named as response capability

Retained capability

Standby Agreement

Rates, site access, and safety paperwork settled in advance so nothing is negotiated mid-incident.

  • Everything in Readiness & Review
  • Pre-agreed rates & terms
  • Site pre-familiarization visit
  • Priority mobilization
  • Optional staged equipment

How it works

How a plan gets built

  1. Assess

Site walk, substance inventory, and a plain answer on what's actually triggered.

  2. Develop

Plan authored against the regulation, with our response capability named where it helps.

  3. Submit

Filed with the regulator; we carry the correspondence through to approval.

  4. Maintain

Exercises, amendments, and renewals tracked so nothing expires quietly.

Emergency

If it's happening now,

Have this ready when you call

  • Where you are

Site name, address, or nearest highway marker.

  • What the product is

A shipping document or placard number is enough. If you don't know, say so.

  • Roughly how much

And whether it has reached water, soil, or a drain.

  • Whether anyone is exposed

Injuries or exposure change the dispatch immediately.

Not urgent? Planning, training, rentals, and standby agreements are handled through the booking form.
