Fire Suppression Skids: Essential Safety for High Risk Environments

Where skid mounted suppression fits on remote and temporary sites, and how it is deployed.

Rapid Response Industrial GroupJuly 20241 min read

Fire suppression skids give industrial sites a first line of defence where the fire risk is high: fast suppression that limits property damage and injuries, and helps keep a fire from contaminating the surrounding environment.

What a skid is for

A skid is built for operations where flammable materials and other fire hazards are present. Water- or foam-based systems activate quickly, so a fire can be suppressed before it grows, and the mobile design means a skid can be placed at an isolated or temporary site. Our fleet includes dual and single skids, for short- and long-term use.

Where skids are used

  • ▸Oilfield operations: flammable material raises the fire risk during drilling and well servicing, and a skid gives a fast response that protects workers, equipment, and the surrounding area.
  • ▸Construction sites: machinery and materials raise the fire risk, and a skid protects workers and property straight away.
  • ▸Hazardous material sites: if a spill ignites, a skid provides fire control while the release is managed.
  • ▸New projects in remote or high-risk areas: a skid gives the site a rapid fire response from the start.

Renting a skid from us

Skids are available for short- and long-term rental, with water- or foam-based systems, and terms that can be set to the scope of your project. We can also provide trained Hazmat and industrial fire technicians to operate the units on site, so each skid is deployed correctly and ready to work.

Ask a coordinator which depot is closest and what is available there: call 1-844-774-4911 or use the contact page.

Have this ready when you call

  • Where you are

Site name, address, or nearest highway marker.

  • What the product is

A shipping document or placard number is enough. If you don't know, say so.

  • Roughly how much

And whether it has reached water, soil, or a drain.

  • Whether anyone is exposed

Injuries or exposure change the dispatch immediately.
